Ahead Of Other Political Parties: Alternative National Congress (ANC) Prepares

The Alternative National Congress (ANC) has begun to set the pace for the 2029 general and presidential elections by conducting its 4th national convention over the weekend in Kakata, Margibi County, and bringing on board a fresh new leadership that is expected to steer the affairs of the institution to victory.

Even though the results of the 2023 general and presidential elections were not favorable for the ANC, it appears like partisans and stalwarts of the party have taken a step ahead to heal from the wound, reconcile their differences and forge head.

The ANC’s 4th national convention ended successfully, and created a platform for party members and delegates to come together, elect new leadership and set the course for the future of the ANC. The event was characterized by calls for unity, hard work, and dedication to the party’s goals of reducing inequality and creating opportunities for all Liberians.

In a bold move, delegates at the convention elected several individuals to serve in various capacities, trusting their capabilities and leadership expertise to lead the party to victory in 2029.

Those elected are Alexander B. Cummings, Political Leader; Atty. Lafayette E.O Gould, National Chairman; Taa Wongbe, Vice Chairman for Administration; Solomon Abba Kollie, Vice Chairman for Operations; Musa BM Swaray, Vice chairman for Inter-Party Affairs; Victoria Torlo Koiquah, Vice Chairman for Political Affairs; Moriah Yeakula- Korkpor, Vice Chairman for Legal Affairs; Munah Farhat, Vice Chairman for International Affairs; Queenyoun Siah Kpengba, Vice Chairman for Finance and Investment; Desmond Ujay Nimely, National Secretary General; Siafa Dennis, Deputy Secretary General; and Kaifa J. Konneh, National Treasurer.

At the same time, the ANC Youth Congress elected Alieu Kiadii as their National Chairman, Lawrence Spencer as Vice Chairman for Administration, and Obediah Sundaygar, National Secretary General.

Also, the party’s National Women Congress elected Kulah Kaizulu as their Chairlady, Jartu Boykai as Vice Chair for Administration, and Rosa Park as National Secretary.

Making brief remarks upon his election as Political Leader of the ANC, Alexander Benedict Cummings expressed gratitude to all the party members and delegates for their unwavering belief and commitment in the principles, mission, vision and values of the ANC, and reiterated his readiness in transforming Liberia through the private sector.

Cummings emphasized the need to reduce the suffering of the Liberian people, pointing out that many Liberians go to bed hungry, struggle to send their children to school, and struggle to pay basic expenses like rent and medical treatment.

He called for a focus on reducing inequality in the country and creating opportunities for job creation, and underscored the importance of attracting foreign direct investments and creating an economic environment conducive for Liberian businesses to thrive.
